wanted:cox .010 tee dee or parts
Hello as the [bleep] suggests i would like a cox .010 i dont mind if its nib or used but i would like to get it for a good price if you have one you are willing to sell please post it here or PM me. Please look into your hearts and offer me that .010 it is for a model that i am building. Also if you have parts please let me know.
Thank you,

Nitro,
If I remember correctly you were looking for harder to find parts but we have the following:
http://www.exmodelengines.com/home.php?cat=250
In addition to the listings in that category we have the following one-off parts:
NV Body/Venturi
Needle/Spring
Starter Springs
Glow Head/Gasket
I'll keep an eye out for other parts, including crankshafts as you mentioned in the other thread.
Regards, Matt.

Yeah I was looking for the harder to find parts but I think I will order some needle valve bodies and fuel tubing from you in the near future.
Thank you for posting

Re: wanted:cox .010 tee dee or parts
Thats what I thought. Getting the parts made is not the problem, but rather the demand for 010 parts is pretty limited.
Couple that with the many processes involved in say getting a crankshaft made, and your probably looking at a 1000 piece minimum to get a reasonable unit cost.
If anyone has a full service machine shop with heat treating and grinding capabilities....
Matt.

Re: wanted:cox .010 tee dee or parts
I suppose if I got real desperate for parts I could get some one to make a few at I highprice I am actually trying to get a machining shop to make me a couple of heavy duty cranks for my diesel conversion and a couple for AndyW as I kind of owe him for lending me the fabulous diesel head.
Re: wanted:cox .010 tee dee or parts
AndyW has been great when we were researching the ins and outs of the 05 carb assemblies.
If you need specs for certian parts we may be able to assist

Re: wanted:cox .010 tee dee or parts
AndyW is the man he even explained that if I could get a .010 tO run diEsel not only could I get better performance but it may throttle better aswell thank you for saying you could help with parts spec because if I find a shop to make cranks I may need a good drawing of one the only modifications I would make to the stock design would be not tO counterbalance the crank and to make it out of h13 tooling steel an if there were still structural issues I would make the internal bore of the crank smaller and as MArisD suggested maybe make a round intake hole.
Re: wanted:cox .010 tee dee or parts
Yeah, the machining itself is pretty easy. When I was throwing around the idea of looking at quotes for a 020 TD crank the machining was reasonable, however the grinding and heat treat operations were a headache.
The original spec is a 12L14 steel and I believe it needs to be treated 86-88.5 16N scale. I am not sure the spec of the h13 in relation to the hardening.

Re: wanted:cox .010 tee dee or parts
i am not sure either but when i was researching what would be suitable i read h13 was good because it did not need to be hardened to get a good strength but if things just need to be heated i can easily do that as i have a high temp kiln.
Re: wanted:cox .010 tee dee or parts
That would be ideal to play around with the hardness....especially if you are going to experiment with diesel.

Re: wanted:cox .010 tee dee or parts
yeah if i get them made i will definately play around with diesel. MArisD actually explained how the easiest way to make one on a lathe is to turn down a high strength bolt as you already have a vague shape but the main problem for me is not having a lathe and this is mainly due to not having enough space although i may try and make a little workshop in my Garden.
Re: wanted:cox .010 tee dee or parts
I have played around with the lathe I have here, but you are still left with the issue of the crankpin machining as well as the intake 'rectangle' or round hole.
Re: wanted:cox .010 tee dee or parts
I heard machining crankpins can be relatively easy if you offset the crank in the chuck as to the intake hole I would go rectangular for tue first try if that didn't work I would try round MArisD explained where to put it and I think it was slightly different for diesel operation.

Re: wanted:cox .010 tee dee or parts
Yeah, that isnt too hard. I was talking about the actual pin where the piston attaches....would probably need a mill.
Re: wanted:cox .010 tee dee or parts
That was what I meant you just use something to offset the crank in the chuck so when the lathe turns the area you want the crank pin to be at is the axis it spins around so then you turn it down to the appropriat size around that axis and the you have a perfectly circular crank pin.
Re: wanted:cox .010 tee dee or parts
To do the crankpin on engines i use a 4 jaw chuck and just set to one side after turning the end of the crank to the thickness of the crankweb and the crankpin, use a pointer in the tailstock to go to the center of the exact position and then just turn the diamiter of the pin to the correct length,
another way ( easier if your doing more than one ) is to use a bar of metal drilled off center by the distance of center of the crank pin and then just turn the pin to length, the rest just spins of center as you do
When ive finished moving my workshop to Bulgaria i will have a go if nobody beats me to it, i have a couple of auto cnc lathes that will do it easily

Re: wanted:cox .010 tee dee or parts
You are moving to Bulgaria
If you do make one could you do one for me I would pay a really fair price for it.

Ive bought a house and a factory over in Bulgaria , The main thing i do is manufacture adhesives as well as some other chemical products , im setting up a new factory over there for the adhesives , i will be traveling back and forward between Uk and Bulgaria as we are keeping running in the UK as well
You can get a much better house in Bulgaria than the UK ive got room to there to fly my pulsejet model in the garden! , so im planning on being there as much as possible , but the company address will still be in UK ( as im still living more of the time in the UK )
i havent decided wether to move kit manuacture all over to there or keep it over here or to do it both places, it will probably be in both

Re: wanted:cox .010 tee dee or parts
Ok I thought we would lose FMK models but yeah house prices in the UK are outrageos at the moment I think I will build the Buzzbipe with a throttle sooner or later.
Re: wanted:cox .010 tee dee or parts
This guy seems to have a lot of .010 parts and parts for other cox engines. http://modell.yolasite.com/engine.php
Re: wanted:cox .010 tee dee or parts
Unfortunately the crankshaft is gone... but there are many more parts like cylinders and stuff you may need.
