How's the weather?

We had one of our coolest Christmas days in years.  Only got to about 25 Celsius (77 F) and we were shivering by 9pm when we pulled the pin on celebrations on my sister's patio.  Boxing day (the day after Christmas Day) today was about 32 C, so things are starting to warm up.  Forecast for the rest of the week is for steadily increasing temps.  6am tomorrow we jump in the van and head north (where it's hotter) to visit our son who got a job as a cook about a month ago in a coastal hippie/surfie town.  They've been getting about 35 C (95 F) each day and over 20 C (68 F) night time temps.  

First time we haven't all been together for Christmas day.  His mother feels sorry for him and decided we needed to visit.  Only six days to get up there, spend some time with him between work shifts and get home ready for work on Jan. 2nd.  Around a 1,700km trip (1,050 miles) each way.  Tried to get flights but would be around $1,000 each return to an airport an hour from his town, so add a rental car and that's an awful expensive Christmas gift for him.  Wife thinks I'm being harsh, but he chose to leave so I figure if he misses us he can do the travel.  I lost that argument

Each year I feel badly for my friends to the north and elsewhere as our decision to retire right in the middle of Texas was firstly all about warmer winters...

Spent time in Alaska, Germany, Minnesota, Upstate NY, Washington state, and equally miserably times in 118F~124F+ middle east deserts

Being sick for last weeks and one after another cold front shifting us from sunny dry 72F to wet over cast 37F back and forth...has the old bones not too happy

Got sleet Saturday early AM but topped to 51F later...Yesterday thought we might get a light skim of snow for Xmas morning but not to be for kids wake up and Santa evidence... BUT today they are outside right now with about 1/2 inch of white on the ground but temps rising fast so mud soon

All Texas grand kids and oldest, at 13, has only ever seen real snow five times

Also fun to see my 4 small dogs play and have fun barking and biting at the snow....not looking forward to later today and the muddy mess in the house....flapper door...wink

WOW that's a heck of a lot of Minus in there < makes my bones Hurt just thinking about it TL and New222  got it going on with the cold stuff ::: i don't want any of it !! Were still at 40 - 20F night and day so; jetting use to its not hard from the fire side of the room

NOnOnO thats not T-Shirt weather ,, I will say this our winter as it was said 12.21.2017 The pretty norm. to what it used to bee in the 1970s !?!? .. I couldn't do you're weather TL and New222 Rod is oN the Road !!

This is a picture of Manitoba right now. I am in the southern part. All the red shown is 'extreme cold'. Should be staying like this all week into the New Year....

Just to add. All the red shown, except for BC on the west coast, is in extreme cold warnings.

Got me 18 degrees F here on the hill, with 10-15mph breeze from the north.  Chugged some Nyquil in a continued effort to fight off this chest-head-ear cold.  Trying to be constructive by masking off the other beginners Ringmaster, but rapidly losing interest.  



'Bout to shut it all down, knock the electric blanket to the stop, and retreat to do battle another day.

It's been a few years since Lake Superior froze over completely. Hope this isn't another one.

Get well soon Kim, and finish that project! The tail is looking good so far. I wonder what the whole airplane would look like done in that checkerboard..... All kidding aside, that looks like a lot of work and the results will pay off for you.

Today, we have to deal with the storm ELEANOR. At Le Havre, wind gusts up to 130 km/h were measured. This morning I drove to Etretat while it was high tide. I forgot to wear my wellies and I got soaking wet.

Man !! Sure looks a lot nicer in the summer lol . I am not even going to ask WHY you were there !! Here today 35F tonight 10F not going to bee nice here either // Should get a break next week , back to the 40s day and 30s at night .. my water in bathrooms have been frozen since yesterday Got to get the stuff flowing so we can get a shower !!

We have an unusually mild and sunny January in Central Europe, and some of our meteorology gurus claim this is the consequence of cyclons sent over the Atlantic by the cold weather in North America...sorry for you guys in the US and Canada I swear we are innocent here for all this weather anomaly
