$10/engine with extras?
at least at the current bid of $387. I count 37 Cox engines mostly .049 bees with at least 2 .020 reed engines. I did not count the incomplete engines in the pile at the end.
I don't see it going much higher.

Given the time, elbow grease, and ambition, you could double your money reselling them as singles or pairs, but I can think of easier ways in the hobby to make a profit.

Aw, I haven't invested to much time, elbow grease or ambition into my collection, but if I dumped the all the buckets out on a table, it'd look a lot like that listing!! I don't think the seller is interested in profits, he just wants to unload a "estate find" for as much money with as little effort as possible. $10-12 per engine is a really good deal, I'd be interested, if I was just bitten by the "Cox Engine Bee/bug" but I do have "enough" engines to keep me off the streets and out of the bars....confined to my workbench! I guess I don't consider profits as part of this hobby. But I DO have a nagging fear.
That after I pass away, my wife sells my engines and planes for what I told her I'd paid! Aaaahhh!!

I'm not a seller.. (ask my wife..) I've bought things for fellow modelers (here on CEF) and billed them what I paid.. plus shipping. I can't put a value on any of my modeling stuff. It's all too precious to me. I'd rather gift someone something they needed. When I die.. I hope one of you gets some or all of my stuff. I should name a CEF beneficiary for my wife or successor to contact in that event. Someone who'd only have to drive a couple hours to pick the stuff up.

It has to be the Pipe Bomb that's hidden in the back that's driving up the price!

Good catch Jacob, that's surely it.Admin wrote:It has to be the Pipe Bomb that's hidden in the back that's driving up the price!
Greg, I don't think it's a ripoff, you just got a better deal. $13.45 for shipping is fair too.

Re: I don't see it !! $$$
If this had been in Finland, I would have been tempted, even though those looked to be mostly "just ordinary" bees and I already have about half a dozen or more of those.
Not a bad deal but just a little too costly one time purchase for me. I was offered (here in Finland) a lot of around the same prize, but there were about 18 or 20 engines, no Cox, some missing NVA's and so on. But there were a few piped Soviet speed engines, new in box, a mcCoy .049 (missing NVA and a few dents on fins) and so on. Didn't grab it, I think I'll have to figure out what kind of a collection I want to build and what kind of engines I want to have in it. "All of them" is not the answer
I'll probably stick to my idea to slowly build a collection of used, but presentable, well cleaned-up Cox engines with some small diesels on the side. Plus all the "practical" engines to fly my future planes of course

Re: I don't see it !! $$$
well thats $20 au and for me thats a lot and it says 10 of them are free and all the others are stuck so its a bummer....... if they all where free than heck yeah ! just knowing what the internals of a stuck engine looks like is a gamble + i have got to pay shipping to oz as well. that costs a lot .its not a ripoff its just a big gamble not a gamble that i want to end up on the bottom ofRknRusty wrote:Good catch Jacob, that's surely it.Admin wrote:It has to be the Pipe Bomb that's hidden in the back that's driving up the price!
