These guys have fun
Looks like these guys are having fun. They try a little bit of everything. Also, note some of the Cox items at their swap meet. If you look closely you'll see bottles for sale that say "IPN". Where did they get that?
The old Isopropyl Nitrate. Just what the diesel guys need.

Thanks for sharing Rod. Thought I would watch a minute or two, wound up watching the whole thing.
Enjoyed the tabled Cox Corsair, Cox must have sold a billion of the things, the Testors BD-5 and the four strokers. Also all the hand flippers, didn't see a chicken stick, tough guys those Aussies.

Yeah, it's just nice to see their field box contains nothing more than a syringe of fuel. No batteries, clips, starters etc. Fuel it up, give it a flick and set it aloft. Nature does the rest. These fellas just wander around launching planes into the air. Occasionally you'll hear a warning about an incoming plane that failed to gain altitude. My wife's first comment was "why don't they wear helmets?"
Tough maybe! But also dumb sometimes. What was with that timber louvre door with an engine attached? Did he really think that was going to launch itself from the ground? Still, good for a laugh!

Re: These guys have fun
Just imagine the wonderful diesel smell with all thos engines being run in close proximity,
IPN was the successor to amyl nitrate after amyl nitrate was banned from sale at the chemists. That has now been replaced by DA nitrate which is only available from model fuel suppliers for collection only.
That looked like a really fun day.

Those guys seem to be happy to launch a plane while running at far less than optimal. I'd be cranking them up a little more myself, but maybe that's why I wouldn't do Free Flight- Too much chance of a fly-away.
