Cox Engine of The Month
Tee Dee .09 muffler?

Tee Dee .09 muffler?
Did Cox make a muffler for the Tee Dee .09? I see a listing on eBay for a "MUFFLER for COX TD MEDALLION 09 AIRPLANE ENGINE 2640", but the package it's in is for a Tee Dee.09 Glow Head #2102. The muffler is obviously in the wrong package...
If this muffer is legit...do they work, or are the mufflers just power robbers?
Thanks!
Allen

Re: Tee Dee .09 muffler?
mufflers do rob a lot of power unless you are running backpressure to keep the fuel flow smothe.
Re: Tee Dee .09 muffler?
But...did Cox make one for the TD .09?

Re: Tee Dee .09 muffler?
I think I remember having seen where someone tapped the crankcase on an .049 without a muffler for this purpose. I suppose it would have to have SPI to have enough pressure to work at all, but it doesn't seem like the best idea. Have you ever heard of such a thing?nitroairplane wrote:mufflers do rob a lot of power unless you are running backpressure to keep the fuel flow smothe.

Re: Tee Dee .09 muffler?
I don't know a whole lot about these engines...Is the muffler just a muffler, or is it used for throttle control? (I wouldn't want throttle control)
Thanks for answering the newbie questions!

Re: Tee Dee .09 muffler?
It is just a muffler no throttle on this type of muffler and I do bot think it has backpressure on it but you can tad the crankcase it you really want backpressure.AT1984 wrote:I don't know a whole lot about these engines...Is the muffler just a muffler, or is it used for throttle control? Re: Tee Dee .09 muffler?
Here is a .09 muffler along with some other parts. It ends in a day so if you want it, you better watch it close! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Model-Airplane-Engine-Parts-COX-MODEL-AIRPLANE-PARTS-/110738645594?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19c889a25a
