Re: Cox .049 "Wind-Up"
Cool engine. The wind up starter reminds me a little of the Testors style starters.

That would be correct. Cox lost the lawsuit against them and there for this engine was only released in limited numbers.
I have one also but not as nice.
Re: Cox .049 "Wind-Up"
This version was made for the Rivets in 1971 and production stopped in '72, the starter assembly was known as the 'Cam Roller Starter'.
Apparently Testors sent them a 'cease and desist' order and Cox stopped production, there was never a lawsuit.

Thanks Mark for straightening that up for me
Re: Cox .049 "Wind-Up"
Travis, that engine is not that bad, take a minute and drop that engine in some wd-40 or trans fluid for a day or two, then attack it with a old toothbrush, it would clean up nice, swap head and rotate cylinder to horizontal...
Re: Cox .049 "Wind-Up"
I remember reading something about Cox having to redesign their spring starter due to a copyright issue but I didn't know it was Testors that made the complaint.Mark Boesen wrote:This version was made for the Rivets in 1971 and production stopped in '72, the starter assembly was known as the 'Cam Roller Starter'.
