That is neato! Hand-launch, or mat slide-out? Looks like it will boogie, too! I'm really curious about the flaps and flat wing...keep us informed, please!

I hand launch most 1/2A's, we have a grass field out back of the house. I can't wait to see how the slab wing/flaps work also.

This is a truly fun plane! I met Duke at the fly-in today, and he was gracious enough to let me fly it. This is the first time I've flown a C/L in about 38 years, and it flew nice and stable. Just when the wind blew the lines slack did I have to back up a little to keep control when it started to dive. But it's a nice little .049 plane. So, as a returning flyer, this is a good plane to train someone on, or to just have fun with. On the way home I stopped at a hobby shop to buy a couple of 1/2A bellcranks so I can build a C/L for myself. He also let me fly his Jr. Ringmaster. Another nice and stable plane. I may have to dedicate the Cox Medallion .15 I just got for one of those.

And Duke and his son were great people to hang with. I didn't ask if I could fly their planes, they just happily volunteered to let some guy they didn't really know fly their nice planes. Good people.

That's great, Mark. The people I meet in this hobby are most generous and helpful... and trusting. I don't see that in many other areas. I haven't had the same luck with train guys. I tried at one time long ago, but as a newby I was always treated with glaring disdain by the hobby shop owners and the cronys hanging out in their shops. So I quit. I'm sure glad I landed in model aviation where people like each other for just being there. Glad we've got guys like Duke and all the others around here.

Yep, the flying guys are the best bunch! They all seem to share their knowledge with me, without putting on a facade of "I'm better than you, because I know something that you don't". Many of the county's top braintrusts are right here in Wichita, too.

I am having confidence issues with my flying, so I asked a guy to fly the .15 size plane I made, and see what he thought about it - and he was doing loops and lazy eights and inverted flight - right off the bat! Then he told me it might need some tail weight and more throw on the elevator. Well, at least I can build an airplane that is capable of decent flight! I caught myself with a wide grin, when I saw my plane flying the way I intended it to. I'll get brave enough to try that stuff, soon!

Grateful or shall I say "just like riding a bike" Mark- It was my pleasure t meet you and see you fly my planes.  You did Great!  Remember to Google Baby Ringmaster and Beginner Ringmaster plans.  If you can't find them easily let me know and we can work out getting them to you.  Everyone needs a Ringmaster or two or three.  And let me know when you and the family can make it up to the Chehalis Airport to fly with my family, it will be great fun.

Gus the I.A- Everyone was right planes fly better after you crash them.  I took the Wing Master out for the first flight and crashed it breaking the tail off.  I forgot to put the tip weight on.  I glued it back together and flew it a time or two before crashing it again. Breaking the tail off again. By the time I was done crashing it, it had figured out how to do loops, lazy 8's, and inverted flight. And was flying nice and smooth for Mark.  You just have to teach them a lesson if they act up, and have CA on hand.

Duke,

I've already downloaded and printed out the plans for the Baby Ringmaster from the Hip Pocket Aeronautics webpage, and downloaded some hand drawings of the Beginner Ringmaster all sheet plane from RCG.  I'll print those out also and start cutting.

I tried going to The Brotherhood of the Ring website, but it seems to be down.  Ah, well.

Cool on the Handle Mark (thanks for the name, Duke)

This is a really neat plane. Where can you get the plans? Do they have them on line? Thanks, Andy

How is that orange and white plane floating in mid-air, behind the lawn chairs, by the tree? That's funny-looking.

At first I thought you were talking about my orange and white plane. I noticed that plane hovering in the back ground also. Weird!
