Re: How's the weather?
We're finally getting some fairly substantial rain here in Southeast Missouri. The local farmers were really getting after their soybean harvest before this rolled in, but there will still be some around the hill to be done after this passes.
The weatherman is predicting a good drop in temperatures for the coming weekend and the Ringmaster Fly-a-Thon!

Re: How's the weather?
Hi All,
A first taste of cool NW wind in along time, near Toronto Canada
Got allot of early morning 250g flights in this year.
Exploring local urban fields, weather conditions, etc
Something that I would like share with you.
Unfortunatly, 90yr old Mum got getting sick about a month ago.
Yesterday, 4 cops in bulletproof vests took an hour to get her in the squad car and hospital against her will.
She fought them best she could, but it was 4 against one. The cops were fantastic on an impossible job. No shots fired.
I share this because,
As the fan speed and amount of [bleep] increased, I looked in here on CEF just for a sense of reality.
Mum is in good hands. A prayer her way would be nice.
Do not reply to this situation.
Let's get back to the topic,
How is your weather?
Thanks CEF forum,
Take care,
Have fun,
Dave

Re: How's the weather?
Our club is supposed to have a free flight contest today. Winds are at 14-15 mph, and it is raining. We have had some really nice weather here in north Ohio but yesterday and today it all disappeared. mother nature wins again. I'll just use the time today to plan out my winter building projects.

Re: How's the weather?
Hi All,
The gusty cool N/W winds have arrived.
Same wind that changes the colour of the leaves, takes them down.
Fall is beautiful here, just west of Toronto, Canada.
Back in the days,
We raked in cash, by raking leaves, and spent it all at the local hobby shop.
We had to wait till it snowed for the next income...
I remember the long lost smell of a pile of burning leaves....
Going to the Library, checking out the latest stuff in Model magazines.
Asking Mr. Penrose at the Local hobby store how much it would cost for the latest Cox product.
While we were going to the school, that got us to High School.
Mustang bikes, with banana seats...
I'll stop. Thanks for letting me bend your ear.
Send a prayer to my Mum, she needs it.
Thanks, CEF friends,
How is the Weather there?
Take care,
Have fun,
Dave

Re: How's the weather?
Reporting from N. Smithfield, RI.. Northeast USA (New England). GPS 41.99N 71.60W.
Currently 50F temperature since midday.. and forecast to be 60F through the night.. and early morning Monday. Rain started just after noontime.. and is forecast to continue through Monday night. A flood watch is in effect for low-lying areas in the surrounding counties. There is also a wind advisory later in the evening.. and into the early morning with sustained speeds of 20-30mph and "gusts" to 45-50mph.
It's definitely unseasonal (milder) weather for this region.. but has been a roller-coaster weather-ride for the past few weeks.. Freezing for 2-3 days.. only to "warm-up" again. It's odd to see plants sprouting from the ground when they're usually dormant well before this time of the year. I'm seeing more and more of that over the past few years.. and it concerns me. It somewhat reinforces what I've been dismissing as hype.. when it comes to the reports on climate change.

Re: How's the weather?
Hi roddie,
Over the decades, I am now used to 'gaining/loosing' daylight for Daylight Saving Times.
Winter here is now, so it is Daylight Spending Time ! ?
Whether or not, I like it,
The Weather is changing here.
Picking sun ripened tomatoes late Nov here is one month later than last year.
Usual NW prevailing winds have shifted to SW.
Forecast for no snow for Christmas.
The roads are unsalted. Mid Dec.
Far cry from my 65yrs living here. (I was a snow plower ! )
Not complaining.
Just observing.
Take care,
Have fun,
Dave
P.S. I got allot of urban flying in this year, I'll share in another post.

Re: How's the weather?
Pretty warm day yesterday, leading into a "sticky" night with 100% humidity up to 9am. Drove home from a meeting around 9.30pm watching flashes of upper level "heat lightning". It was nestled up high in the clouds and flashed an eerie orange colour. Today has been around 30 degrees Celsius, mainly overcast with an occasional light shower which barely hit the ground. Still about 80% humidity. Just had a storm front rumble through which brought no relief, just even more humidity.

Re: How's the weather?
It's still raining and we're well into Summer here. Rain in our neck of the woods has been calm and steady, although some flash flooding in a couple of spots, but up north they've had to deal with Cyclones and severe widespread flooding. More normal for them this time of year, but really strange for us.
We would normally be looking at our lawns yellowing off by now but they still need mowing twice a week. Lucky my wife does the mowing

Re: How's the weather?
It’s been pretty cold for a couple of weeks now, around -27degC, or -17F. Fortunately not windy, although with even a slow breeze the windchill is below -30F
Supposed to get warmer by tomorrow, around 15F, practically t-shirt weather
Early afternoon today as seen from the dining table:
The dogs love to run and play in the backyard, hence the trampled snow

Re: How's the weather?
That light dusting you got came here in NM first. Yesterday was in the low digits (e.g., 8°F or -13°C). Today now it is a warm 18°F (-8°C) and bright, sunny, lower winds.Kim wrote:Got a mean 5°F morning here on the hill, with a brisk northerly breeze trying to shove it through this old house. So I sent a totally unappreciative Mavic Drone out for some quick photos. The nice lady robot voice was fussing the whole time, but it made it back home OK.
Good Ole Winter Time!

Re: How's the weather?
Hi All,
November here just west of Toronto, Canada,
Is usually ~freezing, grey clouds, preparing for a nice "White, Snowy Christmas"...
Well,
It is end of January and we are stuck in our usual unfortunate November weather.
-snow that melted, before we could shovel it.
-the Sun barely penetrates the dark grey clouds, that still persist.
-all usual Winter outdoor sports are so far cancelled around here.
-I pity the kid who got a toboggan for this Christmas...
-ground is barely frozen.
-zero amount of piles of snow in parking lots.
Lucky for me,
I flew Dec 31st an electric, in a 2C very fine mist. Landed with water dripping off the wings,
First time I have landed a plane heavier than I launched it !
I also have got 'full spectrum' LED lights that really help me in the darker days.
It really helps me.
I hope you have Sunnier days...
Take care,
Have Fun,
Dave

Re: How's the weather?
We're looking at a record high of 51°F tomorrow . The rest of the week is supposed to be in the 40°s. We have almost no snow on the ground either. A few days ago, I ran my snowblower anyway because it's not good to just let it sit, considering it was last really used nearly a year ago.
I'll take this weather, we are usually freezing our asses off here this time of the year.

Re: How's the weather?
I've just returned from the Tamworth Country Music Festival (1,300 km drive each way) where our band was performing in a tent (Imagine a small circus tent). We performed for two hours five nights straight. Daily temperatures were around the 40º Celsius each day but one, with night time temperatures only dropping to around 35º C by our midnight bedtime. Not very comfortable for performing and low crowd numbers proved that even the locals were suffering.
