Aurora Tri Pacer
Does anyone have one they could post photos of? I had one as a kid, way back in about 1963 or so. It was red and white. Have never seen another one. Also had a Wen Mac hovercraft, and later, a Cox Spitfire, and Buick Riviera. I think my mom tossed all that stuff when I got older and moved out on my own. Sure wish I still had them.

Re: Aurora Tri Pacer
It's a pretty rare toy, Aurora bought several plastic molds from Comet, the Tripacer, the F-51, P-40, D-7, Se-5a and the B-25, the last five were then sold as 'giant' scale screw together models kits.
Re: Aurora Tri Pacer
That's a pretty cool looking toy there windows rubber tires and i had wondered if the K&B Stallion engine had a plane it went with . Nice !

The K&B Stallion .049 was primarily sold as a 'hobby' engine, with the exception of the Tri-pacer. I'd bet it was about the only overpowered plastic RTF ever made!

I never flew mine. Seems to me I saw a copy of the instructions that came with it, on the web, and they called for 18 foot lines.
Might have gotten a little dizzy if it was overpowered.

Re: Aurora Tri Pacer
18' lines does seem pretty short...from what I've read/heard the Stallion was a pretty strong engine, probably somewhere between a Babe Bee and a Black Widow.
Re: Aurora Tri Pacer
Aurora did a fine job on the cowl for the Stallion. Nice and snug.

ohoooo that's going to go for a lot more than it's present $34. I have to admire those of you that get caught up it this area of collecting. Seems like it would be the most interesting aspect of this model aviation hobby, but it exceeds my ability to cope.
However, I do have/had a small collection of beat and battered plastic airplanes the most battered of which I sent to Ron.

Man, would I love to find some of those planes at an flea market, or garage sale. The Testors planes I have (Sopwith Camel, and Albatross), were acquired at a flea market for $8.00 each.

I eBay'd the Fox F-51 couple years ago or so, as you know most of the Fox powered were the later red/white version.
The Comet and many others may had the better, more scale look, but got there by adding a lot of lead to the nose of the plane, Cox's scale models may not of looked so good with the wing so far back, but likely flew a lot better.
Here's a internet buddie's 'custom' versions:

Re: Aurora Tri Pacer
thanks sir, 12-14 years ago it was a great forum to post what grew to 5000+ photos, but there's so many issues with yahoo...that and just about everybody that was on there is here.
I'm not sure what photo it was, only one i can think of was the free flight engine Robert Beecroft posted?
Lol, Also, while we're on the subject of Cub .049A vs. .049B, why did the 'B' model come before the 'A'? This a question that i've always wondered about...

Maybe it had nothing to do with alphabetical order. Could it be that "B" stood for "Beam" mount? Then subsequent models had to be identified somehow, so they reverted to alphabetical??? Just thinkin'

Re: Aurora Tri Pacer
Mark, My bad spelling. I was looking for the 049B mounted in a Wenmac Aeromite. I never thought about the B preceding the A. What I found interesting was the way the radial and beam patterns of the Cub and Wenmac matched.
Do you know if the Aeromite Cub had a plain or red Tank? I just won a very early Wenmac engined Aeromite and want to make it into a Cub Aeromite (for myself, not to fake out anyone).
I use an IPhone, a Galaxy Nook, and a Windows 7 PC depending on what I'm doing. On the Nook, I tried to get onto 049. Yahoo asked for my email. It did not recognize it and started giving me warnings. Later on I was on the desktop and tried to get on the same way. This time I 049 asked for my username and password. I got on!
I love the various forums, the instant response, and new group of friends. I do worry about the loss of the knowledge base should the forum cease existence. This happened when Isky's board went down. Threads from George Aldrich and many other control line personages from the 50s and 60s were lost.
