Oh sorry my bad i thought you said backplate.
i dont know what the tank was made of.
its cylinder is like the TD's and it has the killer bee crank aaaand the high comp glow head.
And a very weak lightened piston.
Re: Cox stunt tank
Bah, I'll use the TD style piston & cyl (actually from a Sure Start) Bernie and Xena sell
Re: Cox stunt tank
thats how ya do it. but i'm really happy that i can finally clone a venom without having to buy expensive BW tanks!
@ bernie

Ok well the original pistons were way too fragile anyway.

Cox International wrote:Because we only have access to the mould that makes the vented plastic backplates we will be modifying these by cutting off the filler tube and sealing both holes with a plastic compound.
We will be offering the tank bowls and backplates by themselves as well as in kits. Using current 5cc tanks as jumpboard for pricing we anticipate retail pricing as follows:
8cc tank bowl non-stunt version - silver: $11.95
8cc tank bowl non-stunt version - colour anodized: $13.95
8cc tank bowl stunt version - silver: $14.95
8cc tank bowl stunt version - colour anodized: $16.95
Backplate - stunt version: $11.95
Fuel tank conversion kit: $24.95 to $29.95 depending on configuration.

Re: Cox stunt tank
Ok, I just checked, the Venom has a metal fuel tank... So it'll be a perfect clone! I still need that zero-drag thick drive plate, but I'll machine an hex-shaped one on a lathe
Re: Cox stunt tank
do youz have a lathe???

Re: Cox stunt tank
Nice place there.
I am sure that Matt and Bernie sell zero drag driveplates but turning a hex one down would be more fun and cheaper if you already have one.

Re: Cox stunt tank
They do have round drive plates, but thin ones... As I've got a few of hex-shaped thick plates, It'll be more fun to do

Re: Cox stunt tank
Yeah I checked with my Texaco engine, the diameter is exactly the same! And I didn't take any measurements...
But it's like 0.5 mm longer... No big deal, it won't affect the engine's performance
Thanks for the info Bernie, I'm getting a Black Widow, that I'll use with the parts I will order from you in a few days
